Scott Valley Unified
 Technology Department

Integrated Technology with Unified Solutions to Amplify Student's Futures

To infuse technology into classrooms by incorporating district-wide services for the purpose of elevating student achievement

Etna High School is the main hub from which the Scott Valley Unified IT Department functions. The Team consists of one part-time and two full-time staff members and four Library/Site Technicians. Providing site support, device and equipment maintenance, network monitoring, district purchasing and assisting in professional development are the central duties. The 2016-19 technology plan is currently under construction and focuses on vision and educational synthesis. Threading technology into the California Common Core Standards and weaving the most up-to-date technology architecture into students' education is the platform for the District's IT Department.

The Scott Valley Unified School District community is enjoying the benefits from a newly rebuilt infrastructure during the summer of 2015. The new network has a fiber backbone with Cat6 cabling and 100 Mbps Ethernet service. Cisco hardware forms the network hardware foundation, along with VoIP phones, and Meraki wireless blanketed throughout each campus.  In-house servers with off site redundancy ensures safe and personalized services. Each classroom is outfitted with an InformaCast bell system with digital display and emergency service capabilities.

The District supports Windows, iOS, and Chrome operating systems. The way in which technology is integrated is site-specific and includes a blended use of: iPads, Chromebooks, laptops, desktops, Smart Boards and Interactive Projectors. Technology is delivered through the use of computer labs, mobile carts, and classroom stations using wired and wireless services.

Today, you will find us moving into our second phase of IT expansion with an emphasis on all-staff professional development, a Technology Club, and strengthened partnerships with our local, community colleges. Our continued focus will be to evolve, enhance, and educate Scott Valley students.

If you would like a site visit or more information regarding our technology programs, please feel free to call and make a personalized appointment.
