Vision
Integrated Technology with Unified Solutions to Amplify Student's Futures

Mission
To infuse technology into classrooms by incorporating district-wide services for the purpose of elevating student achievement

Etna High School is the main hub from which the Scott Valley Unified IT Department functions. The Team consists of two full-time IT staff members and a Library Site Tech and Tech Teacher at the four main school sites. Providing site support, device and equipment maintenance, network and security monitoring, and district hardware and software purchasing are the central duties. The IT Department is guided by the District Technology Leadership Team and uses the 2017-2020 District Technology Plan to stay on a course of support and educational synthesis. The District Technology Team is currently building the 2020-2023 Technology Plan.

The Scott Valley Unified School District community continues to enjoy the benefits of the 2015 complete infrastructure refresh which consists of a 1GB fiber backbone with Cat6 cabling and 100 Mbps Ethernet service. Cisco hardware forms the network hardware foundation, along with VoIP phones, and Meraki wireless which is blanketed throughout each campus. The system features in-house servers with off-site redundancy to ensure security and to provide personalized services. Each classroom is outfitted with an InformaCast bell/clock system with digital display and emergency service capabilities. The 2019-20 digital IP camera project has been completed and consists of full-campus security where footage is at the fingertips of administration and the local police department.

The District supports Windows and Chrome operating systems. There is also one satellite Mac Lab at Etna High School for Graphics Design. The way in which technology is integrated is site-specific and includes: 1:1 Chromebook assignments, laptops, desktops, Smart Boards, document cameras, and projectors. Technology is delivered through the use of wired and wireless services.

Today, you will find us building and moving into expanded phases as we tackle distance learning which involves complex software integrations and more professional development. The District will be replacing the last two wireless bridges with 1 GB fiber with the use of an erate funding award. Our continued focus will be to evolve, enhance, and educate Scott Valley students while increasing efficiency, building time-saving systems, and enhancing professional development.

If you would like a site visit or more information regarding our technology programs, please feel free to call and make a personalized appointment.
